Commander’s Comments

Comrades,

We are now in 2012 and our District 21 January Meeting is upon us. See the January calendar for more info on the full meeting weekend schedule . You will also see the time and place for the State of Texas VFW Mid-Winter Convention, with links to the Hotel info, Banquet and meeting schedules.

Our State Commander, John Spahr, will be here for our meeting weekend and his main topic will be "Membership". Texas is 38th in the Nation in membership. He will both encourage us and have ideas on how to improve this state of affairs.

990s are due for a number of Post. The IRS is a very unforgiving entity, not to mention that the Dept. of Texas VFW also requires these to be in....nuff said.

Programs are looking good for most District Post. Along with membership, expect a friendly call from your District officers if your post is lacking in any area and a pat on the back if you are ahead of the game (emails will also be sent so be looking for them).

Once again, we need 100% participation in homeless Veterans projects so please do those soon.

It is now time to be planning your Jan VPR (Vietnam Peace Accord) which is due on the 27th, so please be getting that ready.

We will address other programs at the Veterans Meeting Sunday the 15th.

Last and certainly not least, Audits are by noon on Tuesday 1/31, and we all know how department feels about late Audits. Please do not be late.
